Profile
The Aro Valley Restoration Project continues to involve planting out locally sourced ‘local’ plants (i.e. those which typically existed at the time of European settlement), into locations where they previously existed. We weed out exotics in the process (in particular, heavy infestations of ivy, buddleia, wild cherry, eleagnus, old man’s beard, tradescantia, etc) and undertake some trapping. With the assistance of the F&B Highbury Nursery, we are attempting to locate into the Aro Valley a range of Wellington’s rare and endangered plants (for education, etc purposes).
Our activities also mean we are removing large quantities of rubbish, dumped over many generations by Wellingtonians.
